Dr Naomi Gaskell —Director / Senior Veterinarian
Dr Naomi Gaskell, originally from the United Kingdom, graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. Early in her career she focused on developing a strong foundation in all aspects of equine practice, with particular interests in lameness, reproduction, and comprehensive equine healthcare.
Naomi’s passion for reproductive medicine led her to the Southern Hemisphere, where she completed a stud season at one of Queensland’s largest Thoroughbred breeding operations. This experience sparked a long-term connection to Australia, and made the Gold Coast her home in 2019.
Throughout her time in Queensland, Naomi has worked closely with some of the state’s leading Thoroughbred racing stables, while also providing ongoing care to numerous boutique Thoroughbred studs across the region.
Her work encompasses all facets of ambulatory practice, With Naomi’s dominant area of practice being Thoroughbred Racing and stud medicine.
Naomi has a particular interest in Thoroughbred performance horse medicine, lameness investigations, and all areas of breeding and herd management. Her experience, professionalism, and dedication make her a trusted veterinarian among trainers, breeders, and horse owners alike
Dr Shanya Sommers - Associate Veterinarian
Dr Shanya Sommers graduated from James Cook University in 2022 and plays an integral role within our veterinary team. Since joining the practice, she has contributed greatly to the high standard of care we provide across the Scenic Rim and surrounding regions.
Shanya has a keen professional interest in equine dentistry, offering thorough, evidence-based dental assessment and treatment to support long-term equine health and performance. She is also passionate about all aspects of ambulatory equine care, delivering reliable and attentive service to clients ranging from performance stables to pleasure horse owners.
Committed, capable, and client-focused, Shanya brings a strong clinical skill set and a genuine dedication to the wellbeing of every horse she attends
